Why Don’t People Who Made Contact with Me Call Me Back?
It’s hard to speculate exactly why that’s happening because there are a lot of variables. Generally speaking, it’s been found that people want responses to their inquiries, whether by email or phone, to be professional, friendly, responsive and immediate. Since they’re making contact with more than one attorney, several sometimes, a failure on any of these requirements can be fatal in terms of getting a lead to follow up with you after the first contact.
So what does all of this mean?
(1) “Professional” and (2) “friendly” are obvious enough and every rainmaker should have these skills mastered.
(3) “Responsive” means that you create a personalized response for everybody and if they ask a direct question, you try to answer as well as you can so they feel like you’ve read their email and care about their issues.
(4) “Immediate” is has been found in one study to mean a 2-hour turn around time if the inquiry is by email and if by phone, that means you need to answer the phone during business hours, or call them back first thing tomorrow if the message was left after hours.
